ARTIST’S BIO

 

Maximilian was born and raised in Texas along with his three siblings. His unique perception allowed him to recognize the beauty of the world at an early age, concluding that it was something worthy of study through the pursuit of art, particularly the art of oil painting. 

 

“The beginning of my oil painting journey occurred at age fourteen when I picked up a family book exhibiting High Italian Renaissance art, most notably Pietro Perugino and Leonardo da Vinci. I had seen it before in the past but it was as if a veil had been lifted. It was their clean, masterful rendering of an idealized reality that astounded me. And in that moment of revelation I was changed forever, furnished with a profound aspiration and yearning to create works of equal merit.”

 

Maximilian, along with his brother, studied the masterpieces of the past, learning and employing the traditional methods and techniques. Almost a decade later Maximilian has since compiled a collection of artists he draws guidance and inspiration from, particularly the Dutch Baroque artists and classical surrealists. BardouchéArt Workshop is comprised of Maximilian Kristoff Bardouché and his twin brother Retgür Wilhelm Bardouché.

 

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

 

Obsessive in my efforts, I strive to depict worlds of convincing light and form, with the human figure usually the focal as being the most interesting. I desire to playfully present puzzles and allegories with deep mysteries to the viewer, wishing to convey truth, unadulterated. Irony and beauty being the two major pillars.
